An exciting chapter is about to start with this edition of the Derby and Fitzroy Crossing Information Directory.  The Directory will have its own dedicated website “West Kimberley Directory” and will have all the community information that is in this printed format.

Printed formats of Information Directories such as ours are becoming archaic and just about everybody has a smart phone or tablet to source information.  There will still be a limited print run, so that everybody gets a copy in their post box, but in years to come it is expected that the publication will become non-existent.

Having the online format means that new advertisers can be added throughout the year, and community information can be updated as the information changes.

The website has been made possible through grant funding gained by Tourism WA through the Royalty for Regions Scheme.

Tourism in Derby is also undergoing a change.  Last year the Shire installed the Heritage Walk Trail.  Some 30 plaques telling the history of Derby.  Have you been and checked out the plaques that dot our streets.  This year the Visitor Centre has had “The Derby Checklist” printed for visitors, encouraging them to spend that bit extra time exploring Derby.  Whilst Derby does not have a lot of large attractions, visitors want to experience what the locals enjoy, such as watching the sunset on the Marsh, fishing on the jetty, finding boab trees, and generally relaxing.

We hope you too continue to enjoy the lifestyle of the Derby, Fitzroy Crossing and the West Kimberley, we have so much to offer our local community as well as our visitors.
