We aim to create a progressive, innovative and profitable agriculture and food sector that benefits Western Australia.

We support the success of our state’s agrifood businesses through services and partnerships that help increase industry profitability and sustainability, while safeguarding our state’s preciousnatural resources.

DPIRD drives the economic development of the agriculture and food sector in Western Australia (WA), with a focus on export-led growth. We also undertake research, development and
extension activities with partners around Australia and throughout the world to harness the best knowledge and technical excellence available.

DPIRD has the following key responsibilities to the region to deliver:

Industry Development: Providing support, up to date advice and training to industry groups, individual producers, land care groups and other government departments.

Disease and quarantine surveillance: To protect the health of our rural industries. These activities are vital in ensuring the Kimberley region is kept free of exotic diseases and  organisms that may impact on the environment, our industries and their ability to sell produce to many markets.

Mapping services: Providing station plans and land system maps to industry to assist with land management and developing new map products for the region.

Land Management activities: Surveillance and control of declared plants and feral animals, pastoral lease reporting, rangeland monitoring and assisting the Kimberley Regional Ecofire
Project Management Project.

Support the West and North Kimberley Land Conservation District Committees: These are community groups that deal with local land conservation issues.
